Savour the Claret: A Masterpiece in Burgundy

Savour the Claret: A Masterpiece in Burgundy

The world of horology is buzzing with the latest release from Tudor—the Burgundy Black Bay 58, unveiled at the prestigious Watches & Wonders in Geneva. It’s always exciting to see the industry embracing bold colours, and we can’t help but smile because at Helicon, we’ve been championing deep, rich reds for years.

Our own Claret Master has its roots in a pièce unique we created for a Swiss watch company over a decade ago. This was a special commission for a Paris-based collector, and just the dial alone—produced by one of Switzerland’s finest manufacturers—cost over 500 Swiss francs. That was over ten years ago! We all fell in love with the chameleon character of that dial, shifting between deep crimson and warm burgundy depending on the light.  The black ceramic bezel frames it perfectly.

Burgundy: A Colour for Every Occasion

Burgundy is a fantastic colour to wear—it pairs effortlessly with both smart and casual outfits, complementing black, brown, and everything in between. But the Claret Master isn’t just about the colour; it’s one of our most complex dials, featuring multiple finishing techniques to create a richness and depth akin to a fine wine.

So, Claret or Burgundy? Either way, we like to think of ours as a cheeky little number—a beautifully crafted timepiece with a fine finish and exceptional value.

A Timeless Classic at a Fraction of the Price

If you’ve been eyeing the latest red dial watches but want something truly unique, the Claret Master is an incredible alternative. As one of our recent five-star reviews puts it:

“My other watches are a Submariner and a Speedmaster, and this definitely does not look like the poor relation. The engraved case back with the limited edition number feels special.”

We developed our Claret Master over five years ago, and just like a fine wine, it has matured beautifully. Tudor seems to agree—so why not savour a taste today?
