Why Ladies’ Watches Matter To Us

Why Ladies’ Watches Matter To Us

It has been an amazing start to 2023. Thank you for all the support and enthusiasm from all of you, both old and new customers.

We have had features in GQ Magazine, and Car Magazine amongst the likes of Patek Philippe, Omega and the legendary Scottish Watches website and blog.

However, at the behest of one of our beloved and long-term customers, thank you, Alex, we thought we should go into a little story about ourselves.

The Helicon Watch Company is a family affair. We are a husband and wife team who have been working in the industry since the early 2000s. Mrs HWC has many years of experience in product and graphic design and Mr HWC in marketing and strategy for many watch brands in Europe, North America and the Far East.

In this blog, we would like to focus on the feminine side of the Helicon Watch Company. After many years of being a largely male-dominated industry, it has been amazing to see the transformation with many voices from female watch enthusiasts, commentators and collectors in the watch-adoring community.

We have always been sensitive and interested in why and how women choose to wear a watch. For too long ladies’ watches have been designed by men for women, a lazy ethos of making a smaller watch in gold with maybe a pink dial if they are feeling particularly out there. We’ve always been fascinated not by the pre-determined gender of the watch, but by how many women (and of course men) incorporate a watch into their daily lives. This use of a watch is not just aesthetic or practical, it’s a statement of intent. The trend of wearing a Rolex on a slimmer female wrist with the bracelet adjusted to a larger size so the watch hangs like a bracelet came out of Italian City chic; wearing a watch with your purpose.

Mrs H has often worn watches larger than convention would normally dictate, up to 44 mm in fact. It’s not the size that matters, it’s how you wear it.

After many years and thousands of customers, we have found that women are far more open about colour, size and design than any man, and we have learnt from this experience.

The Helicon Master was designed with every wrist in mind.
